Touching Lives & Strengthening Families in Christ for Life

Notes from the Director - Archive

8 March 2006

In this week's verse, we see that Paul and Silas took the opportunity of extreme hardship to proclaim the greatness of Christ. In trying times, how often do you and I demonstrate God's love through public displays of praise and worship? Sadly, I can say for myself, not often enough. How many times do we speak negatively of our life situations to our colleagues at work? What would happen if instead of continuing the drumbeat of negativity, Christians everywhere began to speak boldly and publicly about the greatness of our God and Savior? This type of public acknowlegement of God as the giver of all good things would truly show a lost and dying world that it is great to be a follower of Christ. Let's all do our best to demonstrate the hope that we have in Him, not just on Sundays but throughout the week.

This Sunday, the LBC Worship Choir is singing a song called He Never Failed Me Yet. The main line of the chorus says "...Trust and never doubt, Jesus will surely bring you out, He never failed me yet." I'm sure that anyone who has been a Christian for any length of time can relate instances in which they saw no real hope for the future yet, God in his own miraculous way, saw them through and provided all that they needed. It is a real comfort to realize that in our most trying times God will always make a way. The victory has already been won through Christ. Failures and defeats come only when we do not trust and follow God's leadership. Let's live our lives as the victors God wants us to be, not as slaves to our own limitations.

When Adam and Eve were created in the garden of Eden, the bible says that they walked with God. What an amazing thought; to be able to walk in the very presence of God, the omnipotent Creator of the universe. Because of sin Adam and Eve lost that priveledge, but through the redeeming blood of Jesus, Christians are able to walk in the light of God. Someday in heaven we will once again walk with God however, while on earth, it is important for us to remain faithful to his leadership and not to stray from his perfect will for our lives. This week the choir sings Walk in the Light of the Lord. This song reminds us that we should always seek His guidance and not allow sin to take away the joy that comes from close fellowship with God.
